Ami & Ross

How Did You Meet?

We are a tinder success story!

What Made You Choose Haarlem as Your Wedding Venue?

Originally, we wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but I kept seeing Haarlem Mill pop up in my searches, so I booked a viewing as a ‘wild card’. Ross told me to cancel as he knew that my heart was set on a tepee wedding! Then we came to the mill for the viewing and instantly fell in love. It had everything we wanted in one place, I even think we emailed the next day to book it.

The light through the windows, the exposed brick and the courtyard surrounded by the fields was everything we wanted and more. The menus looked delicious and were able to personalise the mill with our own decorations and personal touches. Haarlem Mill managed to tick every box.

What Has Been Your Favourite Part of Wedding Planning?

Seeing it all come together after 18 months of Pinterest boards and hard work! We were lucky enough to be able to set up the wedding ourselves on the Friday and it was amazing seeing it all come together. Shannon was brilliant and I cannot fault the staff, they were all so helpful.

Sitting at the top table, looking out at everyone as our wedding breakfast music played was a fantastic moment, and it made everything worth it.

What Was Your Theme or Colour Scheme? What Inspired You? Were There Any DIY or Personal Touches?

With an industrial venue, we wanted to have lots of bright colours and flowers as a contrast! The flowers were gorgeous, and we have had so many compliments about them and they were definitely a focus point. Even the cake and wedding favours were flower themed, so it ended up being a midsummer garden theme and it was perfect.

The majority of the wedding was DIY, and I am so glad we did it. At times, it was very stressful, but made it so much more personal for us and of course, helped the budget along the way. Our family and friends helped us with this also, which we are thankful for.

What Was The Most Memorable Part of Your Wedding Day?

For me, it was walking down the aisle and seeing Ross at the bottom, all the nerves instantly  flew away.

For Ross, it was seeing Ami walk down the aisle to Florence and the Machine. It was perfect and tears were shed even after he said it would never happen!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our wedding breakfast. The food and drink was amazing and our entertainment, Emily, played the perfect songs; when we all broke out singing Queen, it was the best atmosphere!

We honestly cannot thank all our: suppliers, friends, family, and of course, Haarlem Mill for making our wedding the best day and something we will remember forever… even after the copious amounts of shots going into the evening!
